VIDEO: We Deserve Better … is it time to decide?

The coronavirus pandemic is showing us what is important to us. What and who we truly value in our lives. If we share these values shouldn’t our society and economic systems reflect this? Reflect us? I believe we have a real opportunity to create a better world, rather than go back to the unfair way it was before.

We might not agree on everything, but surely we agree with rewarding those who keep us alive? Who keep us safe?
Those who keep our basic needs for security (food, water, santitation, education, health) looked after?

Clapping for the NHS is nice, but do you know how many people leave sectors like nursing and teaching because they aren’t paid well enough to live well? Did you know that in the UK has 2.8 physicians per 1000 patients, compared to Italy and Spain who have 4.1 doctors per 1000 patients? If we had invested in the NHS instead of allowing successive governments to starve it of resources and funding for over 10 years, would we have been more prepared for this pandemic? And what if we face an even greater threat in the future?
Surely, we must look beyond this current situation and decide what we as a society believe is important? And build a society around our shared values?
