I share with you 2 of the most important experiences of my life (and they’re not what you might think)
I don’t know why it felt right to share these 2 deeply personal stories about me now, but something in me said to share them, so I am sharing them.
These 2 experiences were approx 15 years apart but which impacted me deeply.
Both stories are linked by shame, guilt and judgment but they are also linked by admiration, deep gratitude and integrity. The spiritual path is not an easy one. There are no awards, no medals, no standing ovations, no pats on the back – because they are not needed. The path is it’s own reward. And in these 2 experiences, I discovered the rewards of living according to one’s integrity and the pitfalls of not. To some these experiences might seem insignificant but to me, these were 2 of the most important experiences of my life.
I feel like society says that especially for women, the most important day of your life is your wedding day. Which I personally think is a ridiculous thing to focus your attention on as there are much more important things in life! This first experience that I share with you, is truly one of the most important experiences of my life. It taught me viscerally, how I wanted to live my life and how painful it would be if I ever strayed from it. This one experience shaped me ever since. And you can see from this video, how the raw emotion of this incident still exists for me today and the gratitude I feel.
