Taken from July’s Newsletter

It’s July! As we head into the 2nd half of the year with greater hope that Covid will not be dominating our thoughts, minds and lives so much. I’m a bit sorry to be leaving June behind because it brought for me some life-changing revelatory experiences.

I had 2 life-changing experiences in June.

The first one I experienced in meditation and I’ll save the full story for another day – suffice to say that the thing I had longed for and tried to do and failed so many times (and I have YouTube videos of me talking about my misunderstandings that lead me in the wrong direction, to prove it!), finally was experienced. I “detached” fully from the smaller self of “i” and I saw that “i” didn’t exist with great clarity.

The 2nd experience which I talk about in the video below involved my practice of non-judgment and an incident where I consciously chose not to judge another person and in the place of judgment what appeared was a deep deep respect and appreciation for this other human being. In this one experience I recognised the true gift of non-judgment- if you leave the space open without judgment it is filled with something much more beautiful, true and blissful.

These recent experiences got me thinking about the nature of revelatory experiences!

Have you ever had an experience that has changed you profoundly for the better? Where you noticed something you had never noticed before? Or a truth was revealed you didn’t have any awareness of? Or it’s like you’ve suddenly got magical glasses on and you can now see the world as it is, not as you had been told it is?

I treasure these moments – and often that’s all they are: just “moments”.

But that one moment creates a shift within, a change of perception or prompts a question or begins you on a journey of discovery. I love these moments.

You can’t plan then, you can’t predict them, you can’t force them, you can’t create them!

But I feel like maybe you can invite them in. You can invite them in by cultivating a willingness or openness to the Truth and creating a space within (and out) for the Universe to surprise you!

If you have ever taken one of my classes you will have noticed that I use the word “space” or the term “create spaciousness” a lot. And there is a good reason for this! When you stop filling your mind with constant inputs, when you stop running narratives about yourself and everything else constantly, when you enjoy the moment and stay present, you create space. If you don’t fill that space, it allows space for revelation.

I have been asked about prayer a number of times recently, and the one thing that is a spiritual law is, “Ask and it is given.”

But the difficulty with this law is that it is misinterpreted to mean that all your wishes will come true if you ask for it. That’s not what it means.

But if you ask for the Truth to be revealed (in any way) and you create the space and stay open to receiving it, it will be revealed. The difficulty is that humans have expectations of how the answer should look, how it should be revealed, when we should receive it, how it should make us feel etc that often we miss it, we refuse it and we block/resist it. But did you ask? Then it was given. And one day, quite unexpectedly, when you least expect it, when there is space for it and when you’re ready… it appears. And it changes your life.

Love,
